

Ricki was born Barbara Jenny Richter on May 2nd, 1934 in Queens, New York to the late Fanny Sofer and Charles Richter. She was nicknamed "Ricki" early in her life. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband of 37 years, Robert Marx, as well as her older brothers, Manuel and Larry Richter.
Ricki is survived by daughter, Debra Hawrysko of Palmyra, Virginia, daughter Bobbi Rubenzahl (David) of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, granddaughter Amelia Hawrysko (Matthew) of Lynchburg, Virginia, grandson David Rieth (Kelli) of Fort Lauderdale, Florida and granddaughter Sarah Johnson (Shawn) of Palmyra, Virginia, as well as four great grandsons, Seth, Liam, Saxon and Syler. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ricki lived in Queens her entire life and worked as an ENT surgical coordinator for Dr Katz, Rosenthal and Ganz for over 40 years until her retirement at age 70. She was very active in her community prior to her prolonged illness. She loved to dine out, travel, go dancing, play mahjong with friends, and was a volunteer for numerous years with North Shore University Hospital.
The family would like to thank Hospice of New York, aide Sheila Samuels, and the very caring staff at the Maureen Russo Hospice Unit at Flushing Hospital Medical Center. The family would especially like to thank aide Mavis Halls for her kindness, dedication and overall amazing care to Ricki in these last 6 years of her life.
The family will be holding a private Memorial graveside service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to North Shore University Hospital in Ricki’s memory.
