Bernadette Diane Walker

It is with great sorrow that we say goodbye to Bernadette Diane Walker (Nee Desrosiers), born on June 30, 1952, in Grand Falls, New Brunswick. She was born to Aurele and Emelie Desrosiers (Nee Cyr). Bernadette passed away with children and grandchildren at her bedside.

Bernadette is survived by her siblings Jules, Ronald, Berthe, Marcel, Irene, and Aurele. She is also survived by her children Sylvia Desrosiers Poirier (Jacques), Dora Wren (Richard), and Heidi Walker, as well as her stepchildren Mike, Johnnie, Danny, Debbie, and Shirley. She is survived by her many grandchildren Ashley, Riley, Jacob, Justin, Jeremy, Janie, Jeremie, Mikey, TJ, DJ, Viktoria, Christopher, Summer, Madison, Kara, Tia, Liam, and Damian and her many great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving husband John Percy Walker, her parents Aurele and Emelie , and her siblings Reno, Guildor, and Renette.

Bernadette dedicated her life to her family and caring for the ones she loved. She will be remembered fondly by her grandchildren as Nana. Once a member of Les Filles D'Isabelle, she lived a passionate church life full of faith. Bernadette enjoyed sitting at bonfires with her family, dancing in the living room with her husband to Acadian folk music, and stopping at every thrift store or garage sale she could find. You could find her on any given Friday eating fish and chips at Hutches, playing The Beach Boys out the car window.

The family would like to extend a particularly warm thank you to the teams at Greater Niagara General Hospital, Douglas Memorial Hospital, and her whole healthcare team that took exceptional care of her while in palliative care.

Benner Funeral Services has been entrusted with arrangements. Cremation has already taken place. A funeral mass will take place at St. Michael's Church, 310 Central Ave., Fort Erie, Ontario, at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 23rd. Burial will follow at St. Michael's Cemetery on Stonemill Road. Refreshments to follow at The Fire Hall, 1015 Dominion Rd. Fort Erie.
