May 13, 1938 – October 5, 2026
It is with profound sadness and loving hearts that we announce the passing of Elio Ianniello, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, friend, and beloved barber, who passed away peacefully on October 5, 2026 at the age of 88 surrounded by his family at the Douglas Memorial Hospital in Fort Erie .
He will be deeply missed and is survived by his loving wife Nina, his cherished children Frank (Mandy) and Al (Tina), his adoring grandchildren Toni (Josh) and Mary, his pride and joy, great grandchildren Cooper and Colt and sister in law Carmela. He is predeceased by his parents Ida Pasqualina Menchella and Francesco Ianniello, his brother Pasquale, his sister Elvira (Gennaro), Maria (Giovanni). Father and Mother in law Alfonso and Teresa Burgio and sister in law Maria (Leonardo). He will forever be remembered in the hearts of his large extended family of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
Born in Santi Cosma e Damiano, Italy, Elio carried the traditions and values of his Italian heritage with him throughout his life: a deep love of family, strong faith, hard work, generosity, gardening and Italian music. For 52 years, Elio proudly worked as a barber, a profession that became much more than a career—it was part of who he was. His barber chair welcomed generations of customers who quickly became friends. People came through his door for a haircut, but they often left with much more: a story, a laugh and the feeling that they had spent time with an old friend. Above all else, Elio was a family man. Nothing brought him greater happiness than being surrounded by those he loved. He treasured family gatherings, Sunday meals, celebrations, traditions, and the simple moments spent together around the table.
The family extends our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Kim Scher and his exceptional Palliative Care Team at Douglas Memorial Fort Erie Hospital for their support and guidance in his last days. If desired, donations can be made to the Niagara Health Palliative Care Fort Erie Site.
