John passed away on October 26th, 2026 at the age of 78.
Loving father of Maryanne (Bob) Underhill Jr. and Jacqueline (Rob) Winemiller. Cherished grandfather of Margaret, Charlotte, Abby and Madison.
Sadly missed by siblings Danny (Doris) Nicks, Cindy Tait, Darlene (Mark) Burridge and Charlene (Rob) Knapp.
Predeceased by his parents Madeline Tait and Albert Nicks, as well as siblings Albert Nicks, and Barbara Campbell.
Tangle as he was known worked on Starting Gates and as a Trainer at tracks throughout Canada and the USA. He was blessed to have found a community that he loved and that loved him back and a job that never seemed like work. We should all be so blessed.
Benner Funeral Services, 1105 Benner Ave., Fort Erie entrusted with arrangements. The family will receive friends on Monday November 2nd from 5-7 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church on Tuesday at 11 am followed by interment in St. Michael’s Cemetery. Donations in memory of John may be made to the Last Chance Horse and Pony Rescue.
