It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Kathryn Elizabeth Steckley (née Fretz), on Wednesday September 23rd 2026, one day shy of her 99th birthday. She is reunited with her husband and best friend, Alvin Steckley (2009).
Loving mother of David (Evelyn) Steckley, Susan McQuade and Philip (Margaret) Steckley. Cherished grandma and nana to Erin, Sean, Cameron, Claire and Maeve. Dear sister of Howard, Hubert (Bev) and Kenneth (Jill) Fretz. Sister-in-law to Mary Fretz and Eileen Fretz. She is predeceased by her parents Howard and Elva, her siblings Lester, Lamar, Miriam and Leroy, and her daughter-in-law Sharon. Kathryn was also the proud adoptive mother of her extended Vietnamese family. She will also be missed by many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Friends and family are invited to Benner Funeral Services, 1105 Benner Avenue in Fort Erie for Visitation on Friday October 2nd, from 10 am to 12 pm. A funeral service will take place in the chapel at noon, followed by a light luncheon at the funeral home. Following lunch, a rite of committal will take place at the Bertie Brethren in Christ Cemetery, 4940 Church Road in Stevensville. If so desired, donation may be made to the Mennonite Central Committee, or Camp Kahquah, and would be appreciated by her family.
