Linda Jane Matthews

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Linda Jane Matthews, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother.

Linda was called to Heaven to join her soulmate and best friend, Richard Matthews (2021), on June 25, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Loving mother of Rick Matthews (Jolene) and Kelly Matthews (Mike), Linda was a cherished grandmother to Jayse, Grace, and Kyle, and a treasured Grandma “Nanny” to Jonathan and Kylie. She was predeceased by her parents, Roy Thornton (2017) and Ruthie Henningham (2015). Linda will be deeply missed by her extended family, many friends, and her beloved fur-baby, Maggie.

Linda will be remembered for her kind smile, gentle spirit, and loving nature. She took great pride in her work at Irvin Industries as a parachute manufacturer. She was also deeply passionate about animals, especially dogs.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and PSWs at Douglas Memorial Hospital, as well as Dr. Scher and the late Dr. Henry, for their exceptional care, compassion, and kindness over the years.

Cremation has taken place, and a private service will be held at a later date. Benner Funeral Services has been entrusted with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Linda's memory may be made to the Fort Erie SPCA and would be greatly appreciated by her family.
