Our Beautiful Nonna Palma An extraordinary woman, a beautiful soul, and the heart of our family.
It is with heavy hearts and immense love that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Nonna Palma, on Friday, October 9, 2026, in her 97th year.
Surrounded by her loving family, Palma left behind a beautiful legacy of love, laughter, strength, faith, and cherished memories.
She will be deeply missed by her daughter Judy (Domenic) Scocchia who was her pride and joy, cherished grandchildren Tina (Al) Ianniello and Claudia (Steve) Moran, and her beloved great grandchildren Alyssa and Gabriel Moran, her brother in law Angelo (Maddalena). She is predeceased by the love of her life, her husband Natale Gasparini, her parents Maria and Giovanni Rade, her sisters Milli, Nicolina and 9 other siblings, brother-in-laws Giovanni, Antonio & Gino (Loretta) Gasparini, and sister-in-law Giusepina (Luigi) Frosi and Anna. She will forever be remembered in the hearts of her large extended family of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and close friends.
Born and raised in Yugoslavia, Palma was the youngest of twelve children. Proud of her Italian heritage, she dedicated her life to family, preserving traditions, and bringing people together. She was a member of the Women's Auxiliary at the Italo-Canadian Club and worked at SetterStix Paper Inc., where she helped manufacture lollipop sticks. Family meant everything to her, and she took great pride in keeping Italian traditions alive, passing down treasured recipes, stories, values, and memories from one generation to the next.
To everyone who knew her, she was simply Nonna. Her beautiful smile, contagious laughter, quick wit, and unforgettable sense of humour could brighten any room. Nonna truly knew how to enjoy life! She loved her trips to the casino, always bringing her lucky elephant and having her very own cheering section. She enjoyed playing Italian cards, singing and dancing to Italian music, and being surrounded by family and friends. Her kitchen was filled with love, especially when preparing her famous homemade gnocchi and delicious Italian desserts. She also treasured her garden, especially Nonno's beautiful pink roses, which reminded her of their love and the wonderful life they shared.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate nurses, PSWs, and dedicated staff at Gilmore Lodge (Bay Beach) and Oakwood Park Lodge for the kindness, comfort, and love.
Rest peacefully, our beautiful Mom and Nonna. There will never be another Nonna Palma. You were loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure. Forever in our hearts. Forever our Nonna. May the angels welcome you into Heaven, where you can sing, dance, laugh, and be reunited with Nonno and your loved ones. Whenever we see those beautiful pink roses bloom, we will think of you both and remember that love never truly leaves us.
