Ricky Robert Bonato, 71, of Fort Erie, Ontario passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 26, at home surrounded by his loved ones.
He will be missed by his loving wife, Jenny Marinaccio, his beloved son, Tyler (Jessica) and siblings, Jane (Gerry) Blackmore, Anthony, Larry, and Carla Zeman. Also missed by his brother-in-law, Vince (Krystl) Marinaccio, Sister-in-law, Connie (David) Renshaw and his late brother-in-law Vito Marinaccio. And many nieces, nephews and cousins, and excellent friends and neighbours.
Born on June 8, 1955 in Niagara Falls, Ontario. Rick had many great stories from his career which started as a surveyor in Northern BC, Alberta and the Arctic, before moving back to Ontario where he joined Delcan Corp (later Parsons Group) as an engineering technician, designing roads throughout the Niagara region. He loved his work and his attention to detail and accuracy was greatly appreciated.
Rick suffered from Sarcoidosis, a rare lung disease for many years, which, more recently, curtailed his love of golf, travel with his wife, and music and concerts with his buddies. He could always be counted on for his witty humour and good looks even when he was ill.
Rick and Jenny met in their 40’s and were best friends throughout their 22 years of marriage.
Special thanks to the health care professionals (doctors, nurses and PSWs) for the great care he received.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, August 16th at the Bridgewater Country Club at 700 Gilmore Road, Fort Erie from 2:00 - 4:00 PM.
If desired, donations can be made to the Ontario Lung Association or the charity of your choice.
