February 28, 1944 - April 11, 2026
It is with extremely heavy hearts we announce the passing of Robert (Bob) Alan Holmes at Douglas Memorial Hospital on April 11, 2026 at the age of 82. Loving husband and partner to Helma (nee Guenther), proud father to Mike and Chris (Amanda). Adoring grandfather to Charlotte. He is predeceased by his father and mother Everton and Edna, and will be dearly missed by his siblings, Sharon (Gary) Johnson, Janet (late Collin Smith) Hanna, Dave (Karla Smith Barker), as well as his nieces and nephews.
Bob, known to many as “Whitey”, was born and raised in Fort Erie. He spent a long career in the engineering department at Horton Steel / Horton CBI as senior designer until his early retirement. He was very talented and upon retiring, kept busy meticulously restoring furniture and repairing everything under the sun. A devoted spectator at all of his sons’ sporting events, Bob was happiest when he could be there, quietly cheering them on.
Bob will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him. In keeping with his wishes for simplicity, cremation has taken place and a private celebration of life will take place at a future date. Bob demonstrated determination and strength throughout his life. If desired, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society cancer.ca, or Douglas Memorial Hospital would be appreciated by the family.
