Sharon Joanne Maurier

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Sharon Joanne Maurier (nee Scott). She will be missed greatly by many friends and family.

Predeceased by both her mother Emily Scott (nee Sharpe), and father Edward "Eddie" Scott, her late husband George Maurier and daughter Danielle Schmidt.

Loving and supportive mother to Scott (Jennifer) Ledingham, Janine Woronchak, Danielle Schmidt (Mike), and Jason (Jesslyn) Maurier.

Older sister to Keith (Cathy) Scott, and Aunt to PJ (Catherine), Krista, Shayna, Rob (Katie )and Great Aunt to Alexis, Gavriel, Kylan, Ava, Tatum, and Leo

Proud Grandmother to Derrick (Amy) Ledingham, Tristan (Alex) Ledingham, Brittany (Doug) Gullett, Tiffany (Amanda) Woronchak, Eliana Maurier, Owen Maurier, Caroline Maurier, Jacob Randall, and Emily Randall.

Delighted Great Grandmother to Ayden James Ledingham, Kaleigh Ledingham, Blake Fisher, and Ryan Gullett.

Caring Mother-in-law to Kelly (Jim) Greenwood.

Sharon had such a large extended family, and she truly loved and thought of each of them often.

Born and raised in Welland, Sharon was fortunate to grow up surrounded by a large family. Those family connections remained an important part of her life, and she treasured the many cousins and friends who brought love, laughter, and companionship into her world. Later in life, Sharon made her home in Fort Erie, where she married George, and became an active member and volunteer at the Fort Erie Legion.

Sharon had a special place in her heart for dogs. She loved every dog she met and was rarely without a treat to share with them. She was also an avid birder and enjoyed watching the many birds that visited her backyard. She took great pleasure in keeping numerous feeders filled, always excited when a rare bird visited her yard.

Sharon spent her final years at The Willows Retirement Home where she met many friends and received great care. She knew everyone's name, enjoyed doing puzzles, and loved her afternoon card games.

Sharon also leaves behind many favourite cousins and dear friends who will cherish the memories they shared with her. She will be remembered for her fun and sassy nature, her love of animals, her generosity, and the simple joys she found in caring for those around her.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

May Sharon rest peacefully, surrounded forever by the love she gave so freely to others.

Benner Funeral Services entrusted with arrangements. Cremation has already taken place. Internment of Sharon's ashes will take place at Greenwood Cemetery Columbarium at Thompson Rd at Bowen Rd. on Saturday September 5th at 11am. A Celebration of Life will follow from 1 to 4 at the Fort Erie Legion. All are welcome. Please come for refreshments and share stories and laughter with us as we remember Sharon.
