

Shirley Yvonne Athoe passed away peacefully on June 3, 2026. Shirley will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and the lasting impact she had on those who knew her. She lived her life with quiet strength, compassion, and a deep appreciation for family, friends, and the simple moments that brought joy. She was the beloved wife of Robert Paul Athoe (predeceased), with whom she shared many years of love and partnership. She was a devoted and loving mother to Kenneth McClary, David McClary, Michael McClary, William Athoe (and his wife Brunetta), and Deborah (McClary) Jaffray (predeceased), all of whom will forever cherish the memories they shared with her. Shirley’s love for her family was unwavering, and she took great pride in their lives and accomplishments. She was also a proud grandmother and will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, including, Jocelyn and Vanessa Athoe, Kenneth McClary and his wife, Chandra McClary. Shirley was blessed with great-grandchildren, Aiden, Taylor, and Tripp McClary, who brought her much joy and happiness. She leaves behind cherished memories with her family and friends, who will forever hold her in their hearts. Shirley’s presence, laughter, and caring spirit will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Family and friends are invited to come together to celebrate her life and legacy at Benner Funeral Services, 1105 Benner Avenue, Fort Erie on Thursday June 11 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM and Friday June 12 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM, with a Funeral Service to begin at 4:00 PM in the chapel.
