Dad started his journey from this Earth while in hospital with his daughter Marcella son in law Brian... daughter Diane and son Bryan by his side.
The girls where his angels Dad said .Ever vigilant at his side for the 7 weeks.... Cousins Marty and Bryce were always present till the end. Dad went peacefully... Knowing he was loved.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends especially Mr. Nick Mutz, Dads birthday buddy. Dad touched so many lives never judged condemned or turned anyone away.
Dad worked hard all his life. From The Sawmill ...to peat moss ....Matthews estate ....the CN Railway and the Rainy River Housing . He took pride in everything he did ....

Alex was predeceased by his wife Laurette Noel. Second wife Verna Johnson. His son Gerald and his siblings Mike Elyk, John Elyk, Helen Audette, Mary Boudreau, Dora Elyk and his parents Wasylina (Lena ) Shypit and Nykola Gawryluk.Dad was the eldest of his family and as a young boy promise d to keep them together as a family and that he did. Till the end.
He leaves behind 8 Grand children... 8 great grand children.
God children , neices and nephews , whom he loved dearly.

A Visitation will be held on Tuesday July 10th from 7 to 9 p.m at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances. Parish Prayers will be offered at 7:30 p.m.
There will be a private burial service and memorial at a later date.
In honor donations may be made to the Woman Shelter of Atikokan.
