It is with profound sorrow that the family of Chase Tanner Copenace announces his passing on Wednesday June 13, 2018 at the LaVerendrye Hospital.
Chase was born on May 20, 2000 in Fort Frances, ON to Darryl Johnson and Janine Copenace. He was raised in Fort Frances and enjoyed playing hockey and spending time with his siblings. At the age of 13 he met the love of his life; Summer McNeil; they were inseparable and you rarely saw one without the other. When Chase’s family moved to Thunder Bay, he stayed in Fort Frances to finish school with his friends and became a part of her family.
Chase was proud to say he was going to graduate with Honours from the Fort Frances High School this year. He loved going to school, playing football and spending time with his friends and family. He was very excited to have been accepted to Fanshawe College and was going to study Business in the fall.
He leaves behind his siblings Savannah Copenace, Kelsey Copenace, Conner Copenace, Carmen Leonard, Nevaeh Johnson, Cory Anderson, Maddox Copenace and Josiah Copenace; mother Janine Copenace; father Darryl Johnson; girlfriend Summer McNeil; adopted sisters Naudia Traubenik and Claire Alleman; guardians Dawn Jourdain, Darren McNeil and Toby Alleman; grandparents Carol Copenace, Tom Johnson (Lilia) and Marie Virgil as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins too numerous to mention.
A visitation was held on Sunday, June 17, 2018 from 10 to 1 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, ON.
A traditional wake was held on Sunday June 17, 2018 at 3 p.m. at the Ojibways of Onigaming First Nation Gymnasium.
Funeral services were on Monday, June 18, 2018 at the Ojibways of Onigaming First Nation Gymnasium.
Interment took place in the Ojibways of Onigaming First Nation Cemetery.
