Diane and Rod met in high school, where they quickly fell in love. They married and started a family soon after, enjoying 38 happy years together. Diane was so proud of her two boys, Gary and Jason. It brought her so much joy to see them grow into such wonderful men and start families of their own. Her grandchildren were especially dear to her and always made her smile. She made certain that her homemade oatmeal chocolate chip cookies or other treats were always available to them when they came to visit or for sleepovers.
Diane and Rod enjoyed a number of winter vacations together to southern destinations over the years. The earlier trips with her sons, the later trips with her closest friends, as well as her trips to Saint Martin with Rod, were some of the most memorable.
Diane also cherished her yearly Christmas shopping trips to Winnipeg with her girlfriends. She was actively involved in the local curling community, formerly serving as recording secretary for the Fort Frances Curling Club and playing in the Ladies’ Twilight League. She also played many seasons of softball with the “Beer Batters”, a team made up of some of her best friends.
She was employed with the local Shaw Cable office for 23 years, which gave her the opportunity to get to know many of her fellow town residents.
A celebration of life will be held at La Place Rendez-vouz on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at 11am. Honourary pallbearers will be Patti and Richard Boileau, Teryl and Sandy McFarland and Cindy and Greg Allan.
