Dorothy was born on July 10, 1930 in Fort Frances, ON to Samuel and Ethel Ashworth. She lived in Fort Frances most of her life, but spent her golden years in Morson, ON. She worked at Betty’s, Niznick’s, and eventually bought the store from Mr. Niznick, renaming it Dorothy’s Ladies Wear. She ran the business until retirement in the late 80s. She was united in marriage to the love of her life, Dovillio (Dove) Coran on June 23, 1954. They were married just shy of 40 years when he passed on April 13, 1994. Dorothy was a social butterfly, had a smile for everyone she met, and shared many stories. She loved to spend time with family and friends, especially with Dove and their good friends, Royline and Bill Badiuk. She had a special bond with Roylene until she passed. In her early years, she was in a marching band and loved all types of music, especially country. She enjoyed the time spent with Terri and one-eyed Jack, who visited her often. She spent many Thursday afternoons with the Coran crew at Tim Horton’s. She also loved travelling with her family and share the occasional half a cold beer. Dorothy and Dove built a beautiful retirement home on Taylor Bay on beautiful Lake of the Woods. Cherished memories were made with family and friends, the Heberts, Schills, Crosbys, Tolens, Petoskys, and many more…
She leaves behind her nephew David Ashworth and sons Mathew (Amy), Joel (Carisa) and Nicholas (Alexa); brother-in-law Raymond Coran; sisters-in-law Olympia (Joe) Benassi, Antonia Edgett, and Irene Ashworth, as well as numerous other beloved nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was predeceased by her parents Samuel and Ethel; husband Dovillio; brothers William, Harry, Arthur (Chummy) and Robert (Whitey); sister Ada; brothers-in-law Gus Siegfried, Frinds Cerutti, Guido and Rudolf Coran, and Ray Edgett; sisters-in-law Patricia and Anna Ashworth, Lyla, Helen and Barbara Coran; and nephew Jerry Siegfried.
