Dorothy Tkachuk

She was born on January 7, 1930 in Barwick, Ontario. She was united in marriage to Mike Gurniak and together they settled down to raise their 9 children. After his passing she was united in marriage with Lawrence Tkachuk. Dorothy worked as a home support worker for many years before retiring. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren; taking trips to Warroad and attending Bingo. She spent the last five years in Rainycrest, she enjoyed the people and the activities, especially the dances.

Dorothy leaves behind her children Roxann Dustin, Micheline (Harvey) Vien, Gail McTavish, Joan Ronmark (Bob Crawford), Rob Gurniak (Missy) all of Fort Frances, Dwayne Gurniak and David Gurniak of Winnipeg, MB; stepson Bob Tkachuk (Mary-Beth) of Fort Frances as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren,

She was predeceased by her parents Arnold and Dora Blom; husbands Mike Gurniak and Lawrence Tkachuk; sons Stanley and Douglas Gurniak; sons-in-law Rick Ronmark, John Dustin and Ed McTavish; sisters Clara and Margaret.

A celebration of life for Dorothy will be held on Monday, September 18, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Hallett Hall at Rainycrest Long Term Care.

Cremation has taken place and a private family interment will be held.

The honourary pallbearers will be all of Dorothy’s grandchildren.
