Doug was born August 3, 1958 in Fort Frances to Lloyd and Arlene Hoffman. He spent his whole life in Fort Frances going to school and working for his dad at Tug and Twist Timber at an early age, then as a marine mechanic at Lakeland Marina, followed by 21 years at Grief Containers, then applying his carpentry skills with Munn Construction and TLC Builders. Doug and Dianne took over the operations of Hoffman’s Harbour, making many upgrades, including new docks and a new landing, and Doug did most of the work himself. Most recently he worked for himself for various lake customers. The work he loved the very best, was repairing motors of any kind especially for boats. Doug could fix just about anything.
Doug married Dianne (Munn) in 1985 and they soon built there home at Hoffman’s Harbour. There he could look out and admire the beauty of Rainy Lake. Doug loved to fi sh and hunt, but most of all loved to be up in his plane which was parked right outside the back door of their home.
Doug was predeceased by his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Phyllis and Ken Munn.
He is survived by his wife, Dianne, son Scott (Amy) and granddaughter Adeline. Parents Lloyd and Arlene Hoffman, sister Shelley (Scott). Nieces and nephews, Trisha, Trevor (Maryse), Katrina, Jessica (Josh), and Kristopher (Victoria). Great nephews Elliott and Aiden. Sister-in-law Donna, brother-in-law Terry (Pam).
As per Doug’s wishes he has been cremated and there will be no funeral.

The Fisherman
I’ve finished life’s chores assigned to me,
So put me on a boat headed out to sea.
Please send along my fishing pole
For I’ve been invited to the fishin’ hole.
Where every day is a day to fish,
To fill your heart with every wish.
Don ’t worry, or feel sad for me,
I’m fishin’ with the Master of the sea.
We will miss each other for awhile,
But you will come and bring your smile.
That won’t be long you will see,
Till we’re together you and me.
To all of those that think of me,
Be happy as I go out to sea.
If others wonder why I’m missin’
Just tell ’em I’ve gone fishin’
