Edward Plichta

Ed was born on September 22, 1951 in Fort Frances, ON to John and Ida Plichta. He lived in Fort Frances all of his life. He was united in marriage to Kelly Coppen on July 22, 1972. He was a papermaker in the local paper mill for many years. Once he retired he was able to dedicate all of his time to the family business, Coppen’s Resort. He loved being there, working on the camp, hunting and fishing. During the winters he and Kelly enjoyed travelling.

He leaves behind his wife Kelly; children Paula (Michael) Jensen and Patrick Plichta; grandchildren Erik Gustafson (Rebecca) and Sarah Gustafson; mother Ida; siblings Patricia VanDenende (Jim), Renee Plichta, Gordon (Cindy) Plichta and Ninette (David) Chretien; brother-in-law Bill Coppen (Louise); sister-in-law Rene Lecuyer as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Ed was predeceased by his father John; in-laws Syd and Evelyn Coppen.

A celebration of Ed’s life will be held on Saturday, May 9th, 2015 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Dining Room of Coppen’s Resort.
