

Elsie was born on March 6, 1920 in Emo, Ontario to the late Erik and Anna Lundstrom. She had lived all her life in the Rainy River District. She had worked as a cook at a tourist camp in the area. She also did volunteer work at the Emo Hospital and preparing Meals on Wheels. She loved cross country skiing, walking and her flower and plant gardens. She enjoyed playing her violin and harmonica, doing puzzles and craftwork and knitting slippers. She was a very nurturing and caring person who was always thinking of others and willing to lend a hand wherever possible. She had a keen sense of humour which she maintained throughout her life.
Elsie is survived by her daughters, Pat (Jack) Kowall of Enderby, BC, Judy Ewen of Etobicoke, ON, and sons, Terry (Rose) of Nanaimo, BC, Eric of Accra, Ghana, Africa and Bruce (Joan) of Thunder Bay, ON. Also left to cherish her memory are 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and nieces Birdie and Marlene and their families.
Elsie was united in marriage on August 17, 1940 to Archie Ewen who predeceased her on March 1, 1997. She was also predeceased by her grandson Darren Kowall and sister-in-law Dorothy Dungey.
A celebration of Elsie’s life will be held on Friday, July 15, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Knox United Church in Emo with Reverend Carl Emke officiating.
Interment will follow in the Emo Cemetery.
