It is with sadness that the family of Glenn John Colvin announces that Glenn passed away, after a lengthy battle with dementia, on Monday, Nov. 12, 2018 at Rainycrest Long-Term Care Home in Fort Frances, Ont.
Glenn was born in Fort Frances on Jan. 17, 1927.
Glenn obtained his schooling in Pinewood and Fort Frances and as a young man entered the papermill in Fort Frances, where he worked for 40 years in the cutting room and then later on the paint crew.
On Sept. 11, 1950, he was united in marriage to Lenora Tibold for 35 years, where they resided in Fort Frances until her passing on Oct. 15, 1985.
Glenn loved living at the lake. Fishing and hunting were a big part of his life. He owned several planes and flew tourists in and out of his tent camps for many years.
He also was an avid curler and enjoyed time with friends and family.
On Dec. 18, 1987, he was united in marriage to Elvi Gillon and they shared 31 wonderful years together. These were the golden years of retirement, where they spent 20 winters in Yuma, Ariz. enjoying family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Elvi; sister, Merle McFayden(106 years old); his children, Marlis Bruyere (Richard), Dwayne Colvin (Jane), Donna Glieheisen (Lee), and Debbie Wilson (Bill); and step-children, Geoff Gillon (Nancy), Jane Gillon (George), Bob Gillon, and Tom Gillon (Amanda).
He also is survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 17, 2018 at 9:30 a.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, with interment at Holy Cross Cemetery to follow.
