My condolences to you all, and to your uncles Jack and Ross.

I remember best your dad's big laugh, and can still hear his booming, resonant voice. I recall too, the dynamic energy that seemed to emanate from him even at those times when he was standing or sitting still. 
Having grown up just down the lane from you, it feels to me as if your family was, in a way, an extension of ours. I remember both your mom and dad so vividly, and your house on Nelson St. so clearly. 
And I don't know why, but  a couple of months ago, I suddenly remembered your dog Goldie, the big yellow, shorthaired lab, and his dog house in the back yard. He was such a beautiful dog. And I remember our only kitten getting caught up a tree beside the lane in your back yard (not sure that it was because of Goldie or some other neighbourhood dog!). 
The loss of a father, regardless of when it happens brings back a lifetime of memories. And the trials of developing dementia can rob us all when our parents develop such symptoms over time, an experience I know only too well. 
May your memories focus on the good times, and may you find the ability to forgive and let go of  any bad times which may have occurred as his dementia developed. 
I truly am sorry for your loss, whenever the loss of your dad, as he was for you, took place. 
I wish you all the gift of shared memories with each other and the blessing of laughter as you remember your dad and the good times you had.

What can one say about this wonderful man.   My daughter Lindsay and I first met Gordon through Easter Seals.  He was a tremendous advocate for children with special needs.  Gordon always had a smile on his face and took the time to chat, I will miss this.  He gave so much of himself to others he was a good man.  I am sure him and Lindsay are catching up with each other having a great old time.   May you hold all the memories of this wonderful man close in your heart to help you through this difficult time.

So sorry for your loss. Back  when I was a teenager I use to babysit all you kids. And there use to be all these dishes to be done, which I would wash and dry for something to do.  When my mother passed away back in the 90s, your mother and father came to the funeral just to see me. 
Also, I think I put a bug in your Dad's ear back in the late 60s  that it would be nice if there was a McTaggart's store in Dryden where I live.  And guess what, a year later there was.

To the McTaggart family.
Gordon was bigger than life! I was fortunate to have him as my godfather. He would take me for dinner to celebrate my birthdays but I truly earned to appreciate him when I got in to retail and in my twenties and thirties when I had the opportunity to sing with him in the choir at St. John's. He was a true bass! I learned a lot from him and he was a true gentleman. He lived a life which his family should be proud of. Carol and I have all of you in our thoughts and prayers.

I am so sorry to hear about your dad. I have so many memories of him and you kids growing up. I seemed to have spent a lot of time with you all watching you grow up. They were good times. Remembering will help you through the times ahead.  Keep well.   Sharon Hastie

Deepest sympathy on the passing of your Patriarch .  The world was a better place with him in it. He was an honourable, respected and gentle man. I remember his parents, brothers and babysat you darling “girls”.  His left a great legacy with his many accomplishments in Fort Frances and surrounding areas.  Keep the memories close.

I knew Gord as a businessman and respected citizen of Fort Frances. He hit a home run on both counts. 
It was GREAT to engage with Gord about politics and sports whether it was in McTaggart's or on the street, IFK Arena, or at some social gathering. Gord was always energized in his conversations.
One memorable encounter was the 2011 Allan Cup in Kenora. Gord, myself and his two son-in-laws, Dave Haines, and Murray McLeod, took in the Allan Cup and enjoyed some GREAT meals and 'time together'.

I was a member of the Fort Frances JC's juvenile-junior hockey team, 1952-55.  Mr. McTaggart was the manager of  these teams.  I have very fond memories of that time.  He was a dedicated  and caring person.  I truly appreciated his efforts on behalf of all team members.  We were fortunate to have him as part of our lives.  My sincere condolences upon your most grievous loss.

To all of Gord's family,  thinking of you and remembering Gord with gratitude.   Gord and Marj both cared very deeply for the community and contributed in so many ways to make this a better place to live.   So many good memories of Gord and we thank God for the gift of his life and living.  

I am so sorry Midge too hear of your fathers passing and accept my sincere condolences too you and your family.

The world has lost a true gentleman.  I always enjoyed our conversations and especially loved when we would have the opportunity to sing together. Gord would join our Knox choir during the occasional funeral or special event.  He loved the old hymns and we always made sure to sing one during the regular Thursday hymn sings at Rainycrest.
      Mary Jane and I extend our sincere sympathies to all the family.  We hope that fond memories of happy times will help ease the pain of parting.

Uncle Gord was a wonderful boss and person. Gord and Marj welcomed John and I to Fort Frances and he was always there if we needed something,
I still remember when I was pregnant with our first daughter and Gord went to Montreal on a buying trip and he brought back a light green maternity dress. 
Jo-Anne, Nancy, Midge, Kathi and Allan you had an amazing father and I’m sure all of you will miss him along with everyone else who knew him. He was a real gentlemen. Love you Uncle .Gord. You are now with Aunt Marj.
