Margaret was born on December 23, 1919 in Alverstoke, England to Dr. James and Emily Wormald. She grew up in England, attending Boarding schools. It was there that she met the love of her life Donald (Mac) MacKay. They were united in marriage on August 29, 1939, just days before the start of the war. Following the war Mac returned to Canada to attend medical school. She followed in 1947 with their son Donald. She was the bread winner during these years, working as many as three jobs at a time so Mac could complete his education. She then trained to become a radiologist, working in one of the first radiology departments in Canada at the Toronto General Hospital. She loved to listen to music, classical and jazz was her favourites; she enjoyed attending the Theater and Ballets. In 1988 they family moved to Atikokan and here she started the Friends of the Library, student of calligraphy classes and was involved in the Gardening Club.
She will be deeply missed by her son Donald and his wife Elizabeth; granddaughters Heather and husband Scott Spurrell and their sons Owen and Andrew, Shaun and husband Kelly Pierce and their children Peyton and Parker and Keira and husband Rob Lacosse and their children Brady, Katy and Lexi. She will be missed by her nieces Joan Mouldey and Mary Brewer and her nephew Donald Sawyer .
Margaret was predeceased by her parents and husband Mac.
A celebration of life was held on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at 7 p.m. at Riverview United Church in Atikokan, Ontario with Susan Girard officiating.
