(nee Perkins)
Ruth Naoma Caul, 98, of Riverside Long Term Care, in Rainy River, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2013.
Ruth was born on Monday, October 26, 1914 in Conway, North Dakota to the late Morris and Doris Perkins. She moved to the Rainy River District at a young age. Ruth was united in marriage to Clarence on November 14, 1935. Together they lived and raised their children in Devlin and Blackhawk. In their later years they resided in Emo.
Ruth loved to cook and bake. She was famous for her canned berries. Her dill pickles were the best and were brought to all family gatherings. There was always baking ready for visitors. You had to be prepared to eat, it didn’t matter what time of day you stopped for a visit. Ruth would put out goodies or often the whole meal. Nobody went away hungry. Ruth enjoyed knitting and sewing. Many of family or friends were the happy recipient of her handy work. She made doll clothing and doll furniture for the granddaughters. Knitted socks and mitts were given as gifts. Quilts and pillow cases were provided for wedding, birthdays and babies. Ruth’s pride and joy was her vegetable and flower gardens. She proudly showed her flowers to all that visited and no one could ever leave without a bouquet. Ruth was always ready to share her hugs. She would squeeze you so tight she would lift you off the ground. A person could never get enough of those hugs. Her greatest treasure of all was family.
Ruth is survived by two sons, Bill and wife LaVerne of Blackhawk, Ont., Wilmer of Mine Center, Ont., and one daughter, Ellaine and husband Ronald Croswell of Thunder Bay, Ont. Also surviving are numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
