She began her journey to the spirit world on Friday, June 22, 2018 in Fort Frances, Ontario. Samantha will join her family who have travelled on before her.

Samantha was born on November 3, 1983 in Winnipeg, MB.

She is survived by her mother Charlene Joanna Calder (nee Tom) of Winnipeg, MB; father Terry Atikinson of Roseau River, MB; special Daddio Carlton Howard of Montreal, QC; her children Bryce Kabatay, Aara Kabatay (and their father Ricky Kabatay) and Raiina Calder-Levasseur (and her father Clinton Levasseur); her brothers Jay Wayash-Calder and his wife Sandra and their children Sebastian (Sarah), Riley and Joel; Bobby Joe Calder and his wife Tanya and their children Reagan (and her son Westyn), Kendra, Peyton and Josh; Dion Howard and wife Chantelle and their children Diontae and Alexander; uncles Stuart Tom and wife Bonnie, Theodore "Teddy" Tom and their families.

Samantha is predeceased by her grandparents Percy and Frances Tom and special Aunties Phyllis Tom and Amelia Chambers.

She loved going to pow wows, sports events and spending time with her friends. She loved to laugh and it was contagious, she loved to tease and was very outgoing. She enjoyed listening to music. Samantha had a big heart and was very generous to her family and friends, sharing gifts and everything she had.

The family would like to invite all of her friends to join them at the traditional wake that will be held on Thursday, June 28, 2018 at 4 p.m. and the traditional funeral service that will be held on Friday, June 29, 2018 at 10 a.m. at the Big Grassy First Nation Community Hall.

Elder Tommy Councillor will officiate with interment in the Big Grassy Cemetery.

The active pallbearers will be Alex Cochrane, Brian Cochrane Jr., Derrick Cochrane, Paul Henderson, Brian Wayash Sr., and Bill Wayash Jr.
