It is with great sadness that the family of Shirley Snowball announces her passing on Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at LaVerendrye Hospital in Fort Frances, Ontario.
Shirley was born on May 20, 1954 in Fort Frances, ON to George and Rose Snowball. She worked as a homemaker, translator and cook before turning her attention to her children. She loved to take care of people and often found ways to bring her family through wild rice harvests and blueberry picking. She enjoyed playing Bingo and going to the Casino.
She leaves behind her partner Sheldon Whitecrow; 4 children Adrian (Raechel), Cory, Janet and Amanda (Paul Henderson); grandchildren Shayla, Karissa, Danessa, Cassidy, Camyrn, Rose, Sylvia, Nelson, Julia, Keith, Jacenia, Seraphine, Vincent and Xander; great grandchildren Mason, Jake, Jessa and Annalise; siblings Josephine Arvelin and Edwin Snowball (Darlene Menson) as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Shirley was predeceased by her parents George and Rose; grandsons Adrian Snowball Jr. and Marcus Henderson; brothers Allan, Donald (Janet Carlson), Kelvin and Melvin and sister Janet; brother-in-law John Arvelin and her husband James Smith.
A traditional wake will be held on Friday, November 29, 2019 at 3 p.m. at the Naicatchewenin First Nation Recreation Centre.
A traditional funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2019 at 10 a.m. at the Naicatchewenin First Nation Recreation Centre with Elder Gilbert Smith officiating.
The pallbearers will be Darryl Snowball, Paul Henderson, Joe Cochrane, Allan Snowball Jr., Ernie Snowball, Chris Smith, Bill Morrison, Waylon Smith and Dan Friday.
The honourary pallbearers will be Edwin Snowball and Dean Snowball.
