It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Minodaagozii’inninii, Terry “Zee” Adams, Pizhew dodem, on Sunday, July 28, 2019, in Thunder Bay, Ontario. Terry was born on June 10, 1974 in Fort Frances, Ontario.
Terry is survived by his son, Christopher Gallow; his mother, Debbie Adams; his grandmother Josephine Bruyere; his brothers, Ryan Adams (Tricia), Dwayne Steiner (Jody), Jeff Kelly-Sky; his father, Rick Adams; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Terry was predeceased by his birth mom, Janet Kelly, from Onigaming First Nation; his grandfather, Raymond (Duke) Bruyere; and his paternal grandparents, Percy and Ethel Adams.
Terry was raised on Couchiching First Nation and immersed himself in our Anishinaabe culture. He was one of the lead singers of the Spirit Rock Singers and helped revitalize the culture in our community by learning the traditional songs and teaching them to the youth. He thoroughly enjoyed singing at powwows and learning from the Elders in Treaty 3.
Wake services will be on Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at 6 pm at the Multiuse Facility on Couchiching First Nation. A traditional funeral service, conducted by Elder Gilbert Smith and Shkaabewis Mike Adams, will be held on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at 10 am at the Multiuse Facility on Couchiching First Nation.
Pallbearers will be Rob Adams, Sandy Bruyere, George Bruyere, Elton Bruyere, Don Smith, and Gary Smith. The family would also like to acknowledge Agency One Singers for their support.
