She was born on July 30, 1951 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She was adopted by Bronie and Nellie Shybyski and was raised in Rainy River, ON. She was united in marriage to Murray Fairnington on August 18, 1967 and they settled in Fort Frances to start their family. Valli was a true “hockey mom”. She followed her boys to every activity and game whether it was a school function, hockey or baseball, she never missed a thing. As the boys got older she returned to work, she was employed with various businesses before becoming a corrections officer at the Fort Frances Jail. She was there for 14 years before retiring. Valli loved spending time with her friends and family but was her happiest with her “girls”. She loved her granddaughters deeply and never turned down a chance to spend time with them.
She leaves behind her sons Brad (Brenda) and Mark (Shannon); grandchildren Kiera, Trista and Carly as well as a large extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins.
Valli was predeceased by her parents Bronie and Nellie; husband Murray on June 22, 2012 and in-laws Matt and Astrid Fairnington.
