A. Wesley Parrish, Jr. Wesley Parrish passed away on September 5, 2021. He was born in Pompano Beach, Florida to Rena and A. Wesley Parrish, Sr., and raised with his sister Tish. Wes grew up in Pompano Beach, Florida, and graduated in 1955 from Pompano Beach High School where he excelled in athletics. After graduation he went to Klamath Falls, Oregon and attended the Oregon Institute of Technology where he played football for two years. He then transferred to the University of Florida where he met and married Barbara Jean Monrose in November, 1961. While at Florida, Wes was in the Army ROTC program, was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity and graduated with a degree in electrical engineering in 1962. After graduation, Wes was commissioned into the Army and stationed in Fort Bliss, Texas. After several years of military service, Wes returned to Pompano Beach, and he and Barbara ultimately settled in Coconut Creek. Upon returning home, Wes ran his and his father’s electrical engineering business wiring many of the homes built in north Broward County and South Boca Raton in the late 1960s to the early 1970s. Wes later took over the running of the family appliance store, A. Wesley Parrish Appliances, which he later purchased from his parents. Wes ran the appliance store until 2004 when he retired and closed the business. Wes was always heavily involved in the activities of his four children and then his five grandchildren. If he wasn’t coaching his children, he was attending their sports games, concerts and special activities. Wes was a skilled gardener and fisherman, and enjoyed the time in his garden after work and fishing in Belize.
Wes is survived by his wife of 59 years Barbara; his children, Bonnie, and her husband, Anthony Rotunda; Wesley; Steven; and Michael, and his wife, Stacey; his grandchildren, Cameron, Caedon, A.J., Alexi and Mason; his sister Tish Simerly and her children, Julian, Lisa and Thad; and many other nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral service for Wesley will be held Saturday, September 11, 2021 from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM at Christ Church, 4845 NE 25th Ave, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33308.
