Today , I am at your funeral. I knew so little about you, today I learn a lot. I met you and your beautiful wife when you were passing my house in Avalon, you were both looking at my magnificent plum tree (Hog Plum)😊I wondered if this couple knew what tree this is, since I had no clue you were Jamaicans. I was pleasantly surprised and laughed, when you say “we are from Jamaica”.
We bonded and you purchased fruit trees from my daughter to fund her speech and debate funds. 
I express serenity to your family. Rest in eternal peace.  Your kindness will continue to be remembered.🙏🏽🦋 Marvia and Sophia .

Mr. Chin you are missed from you leave the district of water lane , you were the most icon the best boss , I use to have soo much fun working at your establishment your staffs were not just staffs we were treated like families and friends, Mr chin was the only employer who drink beer with his staffs while they are on the job working and most of all he defend us , you make sure we were safe I remember when the guys came to rob and they got away and a one who were there with him said author let us attack them and Mr chin said no my staffs is outside there and I don’t want anyone to get hurt 😞 R.I.P DON .😭😭😭😭🥰

Heavenly Father,

We come before You today with heavy hearts, lifting up our dear friend Michele and her family during this time of deep sorrow. Lord, we ask that You wrap them in Your arms of comfort and peace as they mourn the loss of her beloved father.

Though we did not know him personally, we see his reflection in Michele—her thoughtful and caring nature, her strength and grace. Through her, we can tell that he was a strong, kind, and honorable man. Thank you for the gift of his life and for the legacy he leaves behind through his family.

Lord, we pray that Your presence will be felt especially strongly tomorrow and in the days ahead. Be their shelter in the storm, light in the darkness, and strength when the grief feels too heavy to bear. Let Michele know that she is not alone, for we, her Bonafide Friends, stand with her, and You, O God, are ever near.

We trust that her father rests in eternal peace, surrounded by Your glorious light and the company of angels. May his soul be at peace in Your everlasting embrace.

I can still smell the fresh scent of the Silver Star round breads being baked in Friday evening - seeing both Ms. Chin & Maas Arthur  - caringly poised in their respective spots in the grocery store  - taking customers  order -  those days, the good old days! The measure of a man is not how he died but how he lived, not what he gained but what he gave. 
Missa Chin/AC/ Chin-Fatt some of the names you were called. You lived a life of selflessness, you gave, you won, you loss but never did you stop giving yourself to the community of Water Lane/Vere/ Clarendon/Jamaica. Regardless of the odds that were up against you, you stuck it out until the children said 'no more' come home to us. However your heart remained with the people of Water Lane. You were a community person supporting in whatever way you could; looking for nothing in return. You just wanted to help as it was the right thing to do.
Sleep on in Peace Mr. Chin, your name will always be called as no matter who occupies that shop it will always be 'Chin-Fatt Shop'.

Arthur Chin Fatt, known as 'Mass Arthur', was an astute businessman, philanthropist, community builder, mentor and politician. In early years' he received his education at Kingston College One of Premier Educational Institutions in Jamaica. This institution was founded to produce Christian Gentlemen. Arthur lived all his life fulfilling the motto of his alma mater, "The Brave May Fall But Never Yield" he was not afraid to take risks.
Mass Arthur loved children. He mentored and nurtured many. He wanted to see all children receive a proper education and helped many to do that at his own expense. He didn't only care about his children but the community's children.
Mass Arthur was a community person. In his time of relaxation he would involve in playing games, especially dominoes with members of the community. He was sociable. Mass Arthur loved his school, he often spoke of his time at Kingston College like all students, he would say that he was "purple blood". He was always giving back to his school.
He was truly a remarkable man. Sleep well my friend and may your soul find rest in the loving arms of our maker.

To dear Phyllis and family,

Our heartfelt prayers and condolences be with you during this difficult time. We share your loss of our life long friend whose memories we will always hold dear in our hearts. 

His smile, laughter, care free yet responsible air radiated among the Carpenters Road Group remembering the endless weekends of going to a “double-bill” movie then eating at CB Restaurant in preparation for the stroll home. 

He was a “country boy” who never liked Kingston but had no choice as he was destined to be with Phyllis. 

Driving to town was a must to attend the parties - having a “white” in hand as his favorite drink. 

Crabs couldn’t hide from him. Knowing their hideout in the cane fields and having the expertise to catch them - a big pot of hot water was waiting to cook them. 

When he was in the hospital I remember the nurse almost took him for a wrong surgery - luckily he was awake. 

Being packed like sardines was our mode of transport as my dad would transport the group to beach and country in a Hillman Hunter - the back seat would hold all 7 of us! 

Later on David came on the scene and it was the VW’s turn to carry the bus load in the back for an adventure to lime cay in a fisherman’s boat. 

Between the bakery, bar, shop and houses he had his hands full; then came the kids who completed his joy. 

Great memories, great friend…

His  infectious laughter was so welcoming and at times could hear from far depending on his feelings. I write on behalf of the Bisasor's Family in Water Lane, & extend our condolences to Arthur's Family & Loved Ones. This is one of those moments when we are lost for words, & expressions of comfort very hard to find. We have been associated with Arthur for decades, & me personally, going back to the 60s. Arthur's service to the Water Lane Community cannot be measured, or even expressed in words. As the Community's Favourite Grocer, Justice of the Peace, & even as a provider of Baked Products thru the Silver Star Bakery although briefly, speaks to Arthur's commitment to the community that he served & loved. With his beloved wife Phyllis by his side, & like his devoted Lieutenant, they both offered impeccable & devoted service to the Community. It is with profound sadness having heard of his passing, & the grief experienced by his family at this time. So we will use this opportunity not so much to mourn his passing, but to celebrate his life, so richly lived. We all salute you Fallen Soldier, & thank you for your service. SIEP.
