JAMES ALLEN HARTOG, who was born in Norwalk, CT, March 6, 1948, went to be with the Lord, unexpectedly from a fall, on January 23, 2022. Everyone loved the man that they called "Hotdog", the man that always made everyone smile or laugh out loud with his great sense of humor. He tried to come off as tough, but inside he was a very caring, sensitive, loving man, who for the past several years has struggled with pain and continuous issues, that slowly took away his ability to walk steady. Jimmy loved playing golf and using his carpenter skills and these past years robbed him of that joy and fulfillment.
However, he never lost his sense of humor. He was a wonderful father to Katie Sheffield and to Jennifer Subra, who he made precious memories with. His passing has left holes in their hearts. He loved his two grandsons, Hunter and Jackson Sheffield, and wanted so much to be able to spend more time with them, his body just didn't allow it to happen. His granddaughter Savannah Subra was such a joy to him as he watched her grow. She helped him see the world again through the eyes of a child, which created a special bond between them. He was loved by The LaGasse' family, who all became his brothers, Bill, Dan & Jeff and sisters, Pamela and Penny.
He was Uncle Hotdog to all his loving nieces and nephews, who all treasure the funny Uncle HD memories. He loved and thought the world of Jennifer's Brandon and Savannah's Alvyn, their long time significant others. He loved his sister in laws, Debbie Bland LaGasse' and Jaciara LaGasse'. Brother in law Christopher Chapman and his cousin Laurie Rubin Loest in CA. He was happily married to Donna LaGasse' for over 40 years, and was her constant companion.
Always together, loving, laughing and going on trips, truly enjoying the fun things of life. He has left her lost and with a true emptiness. Most wonderful of all Jimmy knew His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and knew he would be in Heaven with Him. There will not be a celebration of life, per Hotdog's wishes. He will be cremated. The family has expressed thank you's for the outpouring of love.
