Such a shock to find your gone.  I never was able to hunt you down after you went to Lauderdale.  I remember your love of life, your dreams and ambitions.  You were one of a kind, and my family and I remember you fondly.  Rest in peace, my dear friend, and wait for me, cause when my time comes i'll be looking for you...

I miss you very much! I really do wish you were still with us. I sometimes find myself crying over the thought of you being gone. I'll always miss you. I was thinking about our future plans to go to Ireland the other day. I still hope to go and I'll take you in my heart.

John was one of the most vivacious and loving people I knew.  Full of life and fun. I am truly saddened and my heart is soo heavy and I will cherish all the memories I have of his beautiful smile!!  He will be missed. My love goes out to Donna and her family....

It seemed to me, that while living out his too-brief life on this earth, John was practicing to be an angel. He posessed such a loving and generous spirit. The God I imagine surely has a special place in heaven for those like John. But, who ever could be like John?!  He walked among us here in his truth, with grace, undiminished dignity and wisdom beyond his age.  His inspiration, and presence 'at the table' will be surely missed by his whole family, especially his sister Donna and nieces Jessica and Gina, but his light and love will remain in their hearts. John- We are all truly better people for having the opportunity of knowing you.  Your laugh and twinkle in your eyes is something I will always remember.  I cherish all of the memories we had together.  Donna, you and your girls were his world, and he loved you all so very much. Please take comfort  in knowing this during this heavy time. My wife and I had the pleasure to meet John when visiting family in Florida.  We had just got back from a cruise in the morning and our flight back to Arizona was later on in the afternoon.  My father and Donna called John up to meet us for breakfast and of course he met us.  This was the first time we met John and we had a very nice breakfast and conversation.  John was a very happy, funny, interesting man.  Donna and family, we are so sorry for your loss.  Donna, I could see how much you loved him and how much he loved you, you had a special bond as did I with my brother.  Both of them were taken way too early and only God knows why it was their time, probably because they were such special people and were needed for a much higher calling. John was more than a colleague, he was truly a friend.  He was a kind, generous and thoughtful man, and I offer my sincerest condolences to his family.

When someone passes away so young you reflect on the impact they had on yourself and others. In knowing John's sister and nieces you could easily see the positive influence he brought into their lives. The times I was around John, I was always impressed by his positive spirit and calm demeanor. Our prayers go out to his family and friends, who are now entrusted to carry his positive spirit forward.

It is hard to say good bye to someone like you, someone who had the amazing talent to get to people's hearts in such a quick and unique way…I'll miss our Fridays' Eve conversations and your wonderful stories. Rest in Peace my Dear John.

I'm happy that I knew John, He always had good thing's to say about everyone. His style was impeccable, never missed a thing. May GOD bless your family and carry them as long as he needs to glory.

So sad to hear of John's passing.  We were friends from birth.  God Bless you Ann and all the family.

John was one of the main reasons high school and the years after were so bearable. He was such a wonderful and happy person, always there to listen and make you laugh. Whenever I listen to disco or see strobe lights, I always remember Rita, Esther, and I would rope John into taking us disco dancing at Nichols Alley and we would all dance together till it closed! I am in shock he is gone. Thanks to facebook, Rita has given us the beautiful gift so we can cherish and praise the amazing person we loved, John.

I don't remember who introduced me to John so many years ago  -- probably Esther Marsh Porta -- but I'm so thankful she did. 

Some things I vividly remember are: 

John's shell-shocked expression on his first visit to the Meyer Madhouse.  No one can say I didn't warn him!  I remember mom telling John, "The first time here you're a guest.  From then on, you're on your own and its every man for himself!"  Never one to shirk from a challenge, John fit right in.

His Aramis cologne.  If I didn't know better, I would swear John owned stock in the company.  Funny how I also remember the Youth-Dew John's grandmother always wore.  To this day, those colognes bring back great memories of both of them.

How long it took John to press his clothes.  Now it was my turn to be shell-shocked.  If I didn't know better, I'd swear he used a can of starch for each pleat!

His laughter.  One of the few people who could laugh louder than I.  So much so, tears would be streaming down our faces.

John's willingness to pitch in.  I can't remember a time when that wasn't so.

John's sense of style.  Mr. GQ.  The interior of his condo would fit right in to the glossy pages of an interior design magazine.  Which goes right along with his love of entertaining. John certainly loved the finer things in life.

John's will to live in the face of his adversities is a testament to his love of life, his family and his friends.  

Rest in peace, my old friend.  Thank you for being such a big part of my life and allowing me to share yours these many years.

we had the greatest time during my exchange year in Titusville, and I know we cherish the same memories, since recalling them together always gave us a good laugh.
When an ocean pushed between us, your friendship didn't seize, though letter writing was sparse. But then came the Internet and we got to talking and writing frequently and visited. Anew, I was given the wonderful experience of a friendship that does not set conditions, but is all best will and love. Even though we had great times and a world of fun, I will always treasure you for one of the very few persons in my life, who offered perfect understanding and peace to my soul.
I am thinking of Donna and the girls and the terrible loss your move from life to a sphere unknown to us means to them and hope the great number of happy memories will pull them through.
No one can ever take your place.
Your soul rests in peace, I know that for sure. Don't stir up heaven too much with all these crazy ideas of yours!

Dearest Donna and Angie......John was one of those people  that when you are lucky enough to meet ,you never ever forget  them. I will always remember his gentle nature and his hospitality....one of my fondness and funniest memory of John is the trip to Costa Rica and his reaction to that giant iguana under the table.He was truely an Angel in our mist. Today my heart is filled with sorrow of losing a great friend, but I know that it is also filled with wonderful memories.  I will miss your great smile, your love of family and our talks.  May your family's sorrow heal in time knowing that you were loved by many.

My dear friend John always kept me level-headed...to the best of his ability (not an easy task)!  I loved being John's roommate in the early 1980s.  The dining room table was always "set" to perfection and we had tons of fun cooking & drinking!  He made me laugh and loved me unconditionally.  We had an awesome time in the Bahamas (even though he took longer than me to get ready!). I met John through Donna when we were in court-reporting school together!  I feel blessed and privileged that through life God made sure our paths crossed!  Thanks for the memories and love you gave me in my life, John!  I will miss you terribly.  May your family & friends find peace in their wonderful memories and love for you!  Thanks John for making me a better person and adding light to my life!
