John Richard Joseph was born on April 3rd, 1963 to his parents Marion and Laurence Joseph, the last of six boys in the “Sand City” of Siparia in the Twin Island Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. In his early childhood as he was throughout his life, cut short too early, he was a quiet passive little boy who at the tender age of two signaled that he wanted to fly in the planes that often flew over our home.
Throughout his early childhood schooldays when anyone would interfere with him and he came home to complain, his big brother Brian would take him by the hand and march him back to deal with whoever interfered with him. That bond was a lifetime one throughout his time here on earth. On his arrival in the United States in 1974, he attended school in Brooklyn, New York and signaled his intent for what would be his eternal love, the military and flying those aircrafts he had signaled back in his infancy.
He enrolled in Melbourne Air Academy in Florida where he began to follow his path to the air. On graduation, he wanted to join the Airforce but unfortunately the Air Force had imposed a moratorium on the acceptance of new pilots, and he wanted to fly. The army had a similar freeze but to ensure that he would get to chase his dream, he received a Presidential waiver with the assistance of New York Senator Marty Markowitz and US Senator, the late Alfonse D’Amato he gained admission to the United States Army where he served for 20 years of active service and 8 years of reserve service.
He then moved on to fly private commercial with Net Jets with whom he was still employed until his untimely passing on February 16th, 2021. He is the father of five boys the last of whom, Sove'ryn, turned 8 years of age two days after his death. John loved his children for whom he dedicated his full-time attention to ensure that they were all right to the very end. Over the past four years he split his time between Florida and Trinidad where his wife Natasha who was the love of his life lived to ensure that his young son would enjoy a solid educational foundation.
Since the closure of the Trinidad airport when he could not continue his biweekly trip back home, he retreated to his Florida home of 6 plus, years with his niece Tiane' and her mother. Over that 11 months of not being able to return to Trinidad, he never missed a day in the lives of Natasha and Sove'ryn as he kept his laptop on skype all day long ensuring his commitment to his family. John loved his brothers and was always the quiet voice of reason when it was needed.
He is survived by his wife, Natasha Hosang-Joseph, his sons, John Richard Jr., Mycheal, Alexander, Rayden and Sove'ryn. His grandchildren Lorenzo and Braxton. His brothers Glenn, Garfield, Anthony, Martin, and Brian. His nieces Carlene, Melissa, Marlena, Janelle, Tiffany, Ashley, Lindsay, Kristen, Shanice, Alexandria and Tiane'. His nephews Glenn Lennard, Russell, Sean, and Jamal. His great nieces and nephews, sister in laws, cousins, his military service brothers and sisters and his Net Jets Family all of whom mourn him dearly.
