Jose “Joe” Figueroa was born on August 1st, 1944, in the Bronx, NY, to his parents, Azis and Gloria Figueroa. He was brother to Awilda, Robert, and Mary Ellen. Joe is survived by his wife Joann and three children, Cynthia, Jonathan, Michael, and a grandson, Nicholas. He was also expecting a second grandson. Joe grew up in the Bronx and graduated from the High School of Art and Design in New York City. After graduating, Joe enlisted in the United States Airforce and was stationed in Africa, Turkey, and Michigan. He served four years and was honorably discharged at the rank of Staff Sergeant.

After his service in the Military, Joe embraced his passion for music and sang in several bands but is most proud of his time with the 1960’s acapella legends, The Five Jades, where he sang backup and provided vocals for hits such as My Reverie. Leaving his singing career behind, Joe had several jobs before he settled on a career in logistics, in which he worked until his passing.

In 1973, Joe met the love of his life Joann, and together they celebrated 46 years of marriage. He often sang to her, most notably the song Time After Time by Nancy Wilson.

Joe had many passions. He loved to play racquetball and could be found on the local courts of South Florida, where he made friends and shared many laughs. He was fond of video game and spent much time playing with his sons. In 2018, Joe was diagnosed with Leukemia. He fought the disease until he passed on April 30th, 2021, from complications of a stem cell transplant.

Joe was full of joy and had a contagious smile. He loved his family and friends deeply. We are eternally grateful for the 76 wonderful years Joe had and the time we got to spend with him. “And time after time, You'll hear me say that I'm, So lucky to be loving you.”

Juan 5:28,29; 1 Corintios 15:26
