Kay Marie Allensworth, 76, a longtime resident of South Florida, passed away while receiving care from Seasons Hospice, surrounded by her close family on December 21, 2019. Born on March 28, 1943 to Helen (née Bombas) and Nicholas Pakuris in Providence, Rhode Island, Kay was the youngest of four children, Carolyn and Christopher (both deceased) and George.
Following the death of her father, Kay’s mother remarried to Joseph Amatore and moved Kay and her siblings to Miami. As a teenager, Kay began to work in the many motels and restaurants her family owned which ignited a lifelong passion and career in the service industry. It was during this time Kay met her future husband, Donald “Donnie” Gene Allensworth, the love of her life. Kay and Donnie married on April 27, 1964 and had two children, Willard Daniel and Donna Jean. All her life, Kay had a vibrant personality and loved spending time with her family, friends, and coworkers. Kay had a positive, fighting spirit that persisted in the face of her many struggles.
Kay was reunited with her parents, husband, and son. She is survived by her older brother George (Marguerite) of Warwick, Rhode Island, her daughter Donna Jean Campbell (Jason Bence), her three grandchildren Amanda Dudas-Monday (Thomas Monday), Samantha and Shane Jr. Campbell, her only great grandchild, Lillian Jean, all of South Florida and her step-daughter Tamara Olsen of Phoenix, Arizona. Our family would like to thank everyone who during the last few months of her life showered her with love and compassion. Aunt Joann, Jill, Cyndy, Donnie, Terasia, Pastor Gavin, Kimmy, Frank, Henry, Karlene, Chris and so many others who brought her so much joy, thank you again.
