Kevin Patrick Geraghty

Kevin Patrick Geraghty passed away at 6:05 pm at Vital Hospice at North Broward Hospital after a short illness.

Kevin was born in County Cavan Ireland on June 9, 1928, the seventh of eight children to Michael and Kate (nee Strong) Geraghty. He left Ireland in 1947 going first to London then on to Canada with his younger brother Patrick. They settled in Sudbury Canada where Kevin delivered milk in a horse and wagon in weather of 30 to 40 below zero. Always a very hard worker, he eventually came to Rochester New York in 1952 where he learned the plastering trade. He then moved to Milford Mass. where he was a Plastering Contractor and home builder for a number of years. He moved to Fort Lauderdale Florida in the early 70’s where he owned several successful Plastering Companies. He married Patricia Henson in 1974. They had 3 children Melissa, Kevin A. and Kate Shea Geraghty. They also have a wonderful daughter in-law Yvonne Geraghty and 3 beautiful Grandsons Darragh and Gavin Geraghty who reside in Knoxville, TN and Gavin’s twin brother, grandson Garrett Geraghty who preceded him in death.

Kevin was also preceded in death by his Mother and Father his brothers Tom, John and Michael and his sisters Maney, Maggie Ellen and Kathleen. He is survived by his brother Pat and family who reside in Copper Cliff Ontario Canada.

Kevin stayed true to his Irish roots all of his life. He owned several Irish Pubs in Fort Lauderdale. He loved people, telling stories and having fun. He was a wonderful man, a fantastic father and grandfather He will be missed by everyone that knew him.

Funeral arrangements will be handled by Kraeer Funeral Home in Fort Lauderdale FL and interment will be at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery in Fort Lauderdale.

There will be a celebration of life at the Field Irish Pub Sunday March 29th at 2:00pm. The address is 3281 Griffin Rd, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33312.
