Lon Clay Hill, 82, peacefully passed away on April 5th, 2023 after a valiant 3 year saga with dementia. Born in Columbus, Ohio to Lon C. and Corinne Hill on May 22, 1940, Lon Clay was passionate about astronomy from the start and dedicated his life to both his pursuit of astronomy and his family.
Lon Clay met his wife in American Samoa while teaching math and English at a local elementary school. After they married, he continued his studies at obtaining a PhD in Science Education at University of Iowa.
After he graduated, Lon Clay landed a position as a Professor at Broward College where he taught for close to 20 years. Lon Clay put family first, always, and was a dedicated father. Lon Clay was a strong, kind, loving, and supportive father. He loved to share stories and knowledge with family and friends and always had a positive outlook.
Lon Clay leaves behind his son, Jeremy and his wife, Fetu.
Services will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Garden on April 15, 2023, beginning with a viewing at 10:30am, Services at 11:30am and Gravesite at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, family requests donations made to Broward County Library or (Broward.org) Miami Friends Meeting (miamifriends.org).
