Manuel Carrasco Gutierrez, 77, of Lima, Peru, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2025, at his home in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Manuel was born on July 4, 1948, in Lima, Peru, to Salomon Carrasco and Rosalia Gutierrez. Growing up with seven brothers and sisters, Manuel was known as the athletic one, with a deep love for fútbol (soccer). He played against local neighborhoods, clubs, and even future legends such as Teófilo Cubillas of the Peruvian National Team. His talent and passion put him on track to be considered for the 1970 World Cup roster. He stepped away from his prospective professional career and developed a soccer team with his brother, Ricardo Carrasco, called Jose Carlos Mariategui.
In the years that followed, Manuel met the love of his life, Delila Blanca Balboa. The two were married in 1987 in a civil ceremony and celebrated their wedding in 1988.As many of his siblings began moving to the United States, Manuel and Delila also chose to make the life-changing journey to Florida in search of new opportunities. Together, they raised two sons and a daughter: Joshua (born in 1990), Salomon (born in 1991) and Madeli (born in 1995). Determined to provide for his family, Manuel earned his Welding Certification at Sheridan Vocational Center (now Sheridan Technical College). Later, as his sons grew older, he transitioned from welding to a position with Advance Auto Parts, where he became recognized as one of the top employees in the Southeast Region during the mid-to-late 2000s. After the COVID-19 pandemic, Manuel retired, dedicating his time to his family and enjoying the things he loved most. His hobbies included horse racing (particularly following jockey Garrett Gomez), traveling across the U.S. (especially to New York and Kentucky), supporting Real Madrid (Cristiano Ronaldo), and watching WWE (Dusty Rhodes, Jimmy Snuka, John Cena, Seth Rollins, and Cody Rhodes), cheering for the Miami Dolphins (Dan Marino), and rooting for Club Universitario de Deportes.
Manuel’s life was a testament to courage, family devotion, and the pursuit of opportunity. Along with his siblings, he became a pillar of the Carrasco family in the United States—a foundation upon which future generations now stand. He is survived by his beloved wife, Delila Blanca Carrasco, and his sons, Joshua and Salomon Carrasco. A Celebration of Life will be held on August 29, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Fred Hunter’s Funeral Home & Hollywood Memorial Gardens. The family wishes to express heartfelt gratitude to Manuel’s brothers and sisters—Enedina Carrasco, Humbelina Carrasco, Ricardo Carrasco, and Jines Carrasco—as well as extended family and friends for their love, condolences, and support during this time.
"Manuel lived a life full of rich memories, traveling from the mean streets to the land of the free, witnessing unforgettable moments, and embracing every experience. But more than anything Manny did it his way.
