

Mrs. Marie B. Petrone, age 97, of Fort Lauderdale, passed away peacefully in the arms of her son Robert on Sunday, March 5, 2017. At the Time of her passing she was in the hearts and minds of those she loved the most.
Born in New York City, on March 23, 1919, Marie was the daughter of the late William and Frances (Guidone) Bottino. Raised and educated in NYC, Marie attended the College of New Rochelle and furthered her studies in Master of Arts from Columbia University in 1941. On September 6, 1952, Marie was united in marriage to Louis N. Petrone and shared with him 62 years in a devoted union founded on traditional family values, unconditional love, and holding hands every minute of the day that they could. Louis passed away on April 25, 2015. Marie was a math teacher, where she not just worked with her students in class, but shared her knowledge to many students after school by tutoring them.
Marie’s priority was providing a comfortable, loving home for her family. Her role as matriarch and mother became the matrix of her life. She created a nurturing environment enriched by her smile, her caring ways and always wanting to make those around her happy. Marie was devout to her Catholic Faith and in her earlier years she was active in the church serving as a lector during mass while her beloved Louis served as an usher. At one time Marie owned her own ceramic business, where she created masterful pieces. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening and attending to her flowers.
Marie is survived her children, Robert “Bob” Petrone and Mary Ann Chioini; her grandson, Nicholas Palmisano; her nephew, William Saltysiak. Marie was predeceased by her sister, Elaine Saltysiak.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 9, 2017 from 5:00 – 7:00 at the Kraeer-Fairchild Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 4061 North Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale 33308. Marie’s funeral service will commence on Friday afternoon at 12:00 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 2500 NE 33rd Ave, Fort Lauderdale, 33305 where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Entombment will follow in Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, 1500 State Rd 7, North Lauderdale 33068.
