Marta R. Diaz

Marta was born in Montevideo, Uruguay to Washington Ramonde and Julia Griffo on July 24, 1942. She married Ariel Diaz on November, 17th 1960 in Montevideo, Uruguay. They moved to the United States in October 1979.

She held many jobs as a seamstress, hairdresser, and baker, selling her beloved empanadas to local bakeries in the South Florida community. She was constantly creating and talented at painting, jewelry making, and crochet; always with a project in hand. Marta enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking dinners, and best of all, being an abuela.

Marta is preceded in death by her husband Ariel Diaz, sister Carmen “Lila” Tortora, and brother Juan Ramonde.

She is survived by her son Gerardo Diaz, daughter-in-law Eileen Diaz, sister Maria “Negra” Perez, grandchildren Ryan and Christina Diaz, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2024, from 6-9 p.m. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 2401 Davie Rd. Davie, FL 33317.
