She was born in San Juan Venque, Honduras on December 30th 1931 to Mother Lorenza Villa Franca Castro and Father Nicomedes Castro.
Melida Forgas came to America (Miami) in 1964 at the age of 33 with her 10 year old daughter Miriam Castro Forgas. Some time after they arrived, Melidas husband/Miriam's father Ramon Forgas reunited with them. Together they would provide themselves and their daughter a better opportunity here in the USA.
Melida Forgas lived in Miami upon her arrival from Honduras until 1989, then moved up to the Ft. Lauderdale/Plantation area until 2020, Then moved to Southwest Florida Area called Labelle, Florida up until her Death.
Melida Forgas worked for a loving and caring family from Coral Gables, Florida Mr. Edward and Mrs. Pat Strawgate along with their 3 daughters Janet, Pamela and Nancy for 50 plus years. She was not considered by them an employee she was considered family to this day.
Melida Forgas is preceded in Death by her husband Ramon Forgas (3/28/1926-4/12/2019), Brothers Francisco Villa Franca Castro, Manuel Villa Franca Castro, Andres Villa Franca Castro and Sister Enriqueta Villa Franca Castro
Melida Forgas is survived by her only Child Miriam Elizabeth Castro Forgas Padron (67) of Labelle, Fl., and Miriam's husband Carlos Padron (65) , Four Grandchildren-Wilfredo Rubio (45) of Davie, Fl., and wife Sabrina Rubio, Edgar Rubio (43)of St. Johns, Fl. and Wife Heather Rubio, Miriam Elizabeth Nina Rubio (42) of
Labelle, FL and Oreste Guerra Jr. (34) Of Lake Worth, FL and wife Justine Guerra, Twelve Great Grandchildren- Wilfredo Rubio Jr (21) Kristen Rubio(20) Aj Rubio (19) Tyler Rubio (18) Jonathan Artidiello (15) Ayden Guerra (12) Brooke Rubio (10) Aubree Guerra (9) Mia Bobillo (7) Adrian Guerra (5) Ellie Rubio (2) Aseiah Guerra (2). Melida Forgas is also survived by her sister Isabel Villa Franca Castro Rivas of Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
Melida Forgas also has loving nieces and nephews from her brothers and sisters
Melida Forgas will be remembered for being caring, loving, giving, forgiving and always welcoming. She would always ask if you were hungry and then would offer everyone and anyone that came over her delicious cooking like her famous Carne Molida Aka Picadillo and her homemade tortillas with sour cream, but what was so special about her was that she loved being outdoors and she loved plants, she had miles of them, she took pride in watching her plants blossom. What was more amazing was that Melida got to live 60 plus years with her Daughter Miriam side by side till her death.
She would always say " A la Mano de dios" In God's hand and "Hay Mas tiempo que Vida" There's more time than life. She always worried about the well being of her family. She touched the hearts of many in her lifetime, She also had such a beautiful smile and a one of a kind laugh that everyone knew and loved.
She was the foundation of the family, our lives would not be possible without her.
She will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts. La Queremos mucho Abuelita y Mami
