

He was born on April 6, 1958 in Lima, Peru to Ricardo and Gloria Ballester. He enlisted in the Air Force Academy and left once the family moved to Florida in 1982.
In 1986 Ricky and a business partner founded the first Spanish Sports Newspaper in the United States dedicated to bringing the Spanish community the latest in worldwide soccer events. Ricky with his newspaper Golazo Deportivo attended most of the World Cups since 1990, and other soccer events such as CONCACAF,COPA LIBERTADORES: because of this Ricky was well traveled he had been to countries such as Italy, Germany, Japan, Colombia, Argentina just to name a few . Nothing made him happier than watching and commentating soccer games. Ricky’s love of the sport allowed him to work for Telemundo in Miami, he was sports director for Telemundo Channel 44 in Chicago, and sports commentator for a program “De GOL a GOL”.
Ricky was known for always entertaining those that surrounded him, he was the life of any party large or small, he was witty, and was always ready to crack a joke.
Ricky was preceded in death by his father Ricardo and his mother Gloria. He is survived by his two children Ricky and Karina, his siblings Milly, Roxana, Raul, Tony, Darynka, Yuri and Antonio, nieces and nephew and a plethora of cousins.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, May 3rd, 2021 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church 4595 Bayview Drive, Ft. Lauderdale, Fl. 33308 at 12 o’clock p.m.
