Richard Henry Lefebvre, 83, passed away peacefully at home on December 20, 2025, in Wilton Manors, Florida, with his loving husband, Sean, by his side, following a long illness.
Richard was born on May 11, 1942, in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, to Mary Elizabeth Lefebvre (née Slater). He was raised in Pawtucket by his devoted aunt and uncle, Mathilda and David King, who provided him with a loving and stable home. Mathilda King (née Lefebvre) and David King were guiding influences in his life, instilling in him values of resilience, independence, and compassion that stayed with him throughout his life.
Richard grew up in Pawtucket and later made his home in Providence, Rhode Island, where he raised his children with his former wife, Libby Isaacson. Over the course of his professional life, Richard built a diverse and successful career. He worked in the
automobile industry, later transitioned into commercial real estate sales and investment, and eventually founded his own insurance business. His entrepreneurial spirit, strong work ethic, and ability to connect with people defined his professional journey and earned him the respect of colleagues and clients alike.
Richard also spent many meaningful years in Provincetown, Massachusetts, a place he deeply loved for its creativity, openness, and sense of belonging. In later years, he retired to Wilton Manors, Florida, where he continued to build community and lasting friendships.
A proud and active member of the LGBTQ+ community, Richard was a devoted supporter of the gay communities in Providence, Provincetown, and Wilton Manors. He gave generously of his time, volunteering with the Imperial Place Condominium Association, AIDS Care Ocean State, and Friends of Bill, reflecting his commitment to service, compassion, and mutual support.
Richard was predeceased by his parents, his aunt and uncle, and all nine of his siblings.
He is survived by his beloved husband and partner in life, Sean Phou; his children, Andrew Lefebvre and his wife Katherine Gebbie of Providence, Rhode Island, and Sarah Stauber and her husband Brandon Stauber of Exeter, New Hampshire. He was a devoted father and a loving partner, deeply proud of his family and the lives they have built.
Richard will be remembered for his warmth, integrity, generosity, and quiet strength. His legacy lives on through the love he shared, the communities he supported, and the many lives he touched along the way.
