Remembering Uncle Sal's passing, two years ago. Still miss our talks and him, and hope he is rejoicing every time I find one of our shared relatives or their descendants, knowing that it is because of his help and long memory, the connection has been made again.  Love you and your family Sal!

Dad today is 2 years. I still think of you. Look at the times I came to see you and enjoy what we did together. That's how it should be. Trying to bond together. I took whatever time off that was needed if you had medical procedures done. I was happy you made it through those uncertain times.

One year since you are gone today and was thinking of all the holiday dinners and how much you enjoyed cooking as I do. The glory and love that God is giving you in heaven surpasses anything on earth. I imagine you with Chris enjoying all the love in heaven. Love, Debbie

My dear Uncle Sal, I will always cherish the times he and I spent together, and the countless hours we spent over the years talking on the phone about family, relatives, friends, events, dealing with hardships as well as the good times. His considerable help to my family in arranging my mom’s (his sister Philomena’s) funeral can never be repaid, though I always tried to respond to his needs for advice and information. His wife-my Aunt Janice, and their children—my cousins--and families are dear to me; the loss of his son Christopher, so young in life, was something I still can’t comprehend. His invaluable help to me in pulling together our shared family history, identifying the faces in photos of long departed relatives, and hearing stories of long ago was a treasure. It was always a joy to hear his reactions to what I had learned about our ancestral Italian history plus ties to relatives he and I thought might never be found, and as a result, in a few cases, for him to speak again with those he had known from long ago in his childhood or young adulthood. His saltiness and humor, religious faith and devotion, long memory, and friendship will be sadly missed. 

Goodbye Uncle, rest in peaceful sleep.

Now may you rest in peace. You lived your life the way you wanted to. Your blessings  you were given were many. Your example of a parent taught me what kind of parent I needed to be. Your respect for family showed me what kind of respect I needed to have. A father needs to be a rock, a psychiatrist, a priest and caregiver. I learned those things watching you. I hope you are reunited with your brothers and sisters, mother and father. I hope the wine there is as good as Umbertos.  riposare in pace. 

Sal will be missed and was loved by so many. He lived a great life, fabulous cook and left an amazing Legacy. We are praying for the entire Sclafani family. He is now in God's arms.

Dad I will miss you very much. I enjoyed the moments seeing you at the track or at your apartment. I appreciate you helping me in times of need. I know you showed much care with things I went through. I think we bonded well and I was with you when you had certain procedures done to you. May our father rest in peace now and God’s love and mercy surrounds you.  If I know Christopher he was waiting for you and brought you to the Lord. Your service to our Country both Army and Navy; world war II and Korean war, and all the stories told will not be forgotten.   As well as us working with our horse Shuking at Calder Race track, bass fishing on the canal, meeting some famous people when you worked with the movie industry for Teamsters, and you teaching me to cook are the memories I will cherish. May God have you in his arms now.
