Today, we gather in love, in faith, and in deep gratitude for the life of Sandra L. Rose, born Sandra L. Grant on July 21, 1973, in the Bamboo District of Westmoreland, Jamaica. Though our hearts are heavy, we give thanks to God for blessing us with a daughter, wife, mother, sister, friend, and servant-hearted woman whose spirit made the world brighter everywhere she went.
Sandra’s journey took her from the hills of Westmoreland to Christiana in Manchester, and eventually to Florida—Broward County first, then her final home in Port St. Lucie. No matter where life carried her, Sandra brought her warmth, her discipline, her determination, and her unshakeable love for family.
She was the loving wife of Michael Rose, devoted mother to Kayla and Jameil, beloved daughter of Leebert and Icyline Grant, and cherished sister to Delroy Atkinson, Donovan McFarlane, Eric Cheddan, Sherril Murphy, Skeeter Grant, Neil Grant, and Omar Grant. Family was never just important to Sandra—it was her heartbeat. Her mother was her spiritual warrior; her husband and children were her pride; and her siblings completed the circle of love that strengthened her throughout her life.
Sandra was blessed with friendships that became family. From her teenage years, her bond with Wadia Spence, Janet Beckford, Yvonne Boothe and Paula Manning stood the test of time. When she moved to Manchester, Dennis and his wife became anchors for her in a new environment. After migrating to the United States, her two sisters in Florida became pillars of strength until her final days. And while working at Broward County, she formed a life-giving friendship with Nicole, whose care and presence during Sandra’s last moments will forever be remembered with gratitude.
Sandra’s story is one of hard work, ambition, and perseverance. Her education began at Friendship All Age and Mount Grace All Age, continued at Grange Hill Secondary, and later at Knox Community College, where she earned her diploma. Never one to settle, Sandra pressed forward and, in 2019, proudly obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in General Business Administration with a Minor in Leadership and Human Resources from Florida Atlantic University. This achievement brought her immense pride—and inspired her children to aim high.
Professionally, Sandra devoted her life to customer service, both in Jamaica and in the United States. Whether at Flamingo Financing, Kohl’s, Coral Springs Automall, or Broward County, she served with excellence. She helped countless Floridians secure essential services, ensuring families had electricity when they needed it most. Many called back just to say, “If it wasn’t for you, I wouldn’t have made it.” Sandra’s work touched lives in ways she never boasted about, but her compassion left an imprint on every person she assisted.
To know Sandra was to know a vibrant spirit. She loved reading her Mills & Boons, indulging in her beloved beauty sleep, and—much to the amusement of everyone—biting her nails down to shocking levels. She adored cats, cared for them like family, walked with them, and told stories about their personalities. She cooked with passion—though, as the family loves to joke, her brother Eric, a proud Rastafarian, avoided her pork dishes at all costs. She cherished children, especially her nieces Shanai, Auriella, Jaydah, Hailey and Aliyah who will deeply feel her absence. And while she once loved dancehall, she later found comfort in the sweet melodies of artists like Sanchez.
Sandra was brave. She was a go-getter. She was not afraid to pursue what she believed she deserved. Growing up, she always found a way to get the most out of Dad—whether she needed help, resources, or gifts, Sandra had the courage to ask. She believed in punctuality, purpose, and staying on track, especially during important family meetings. And if the conversation drifted into idle talk, she would quickly let you know she had to go—because her beauty sleep could not wait!
But above all, Sandra’s greatest accomplishments were her children. Kayla and Jameil’s successes filled her heart with joy beyond measure. She was honored to care for her husband, Michael—often reminding him about his dinner or clothes even while on the phone with someone else. Her love was quiet, constant, and unwavering.
Life brought Sandra challenges, including serious medical scares. Yet every time, she stood up with strength and determination. She pushed forward with faith, resilience, and courage.
The memories we hold of her are priceless. Sandra loved quality, and If there was a deal available on the quality brands, Sandra would always cue us in, always thinking of the family. We laugh as we remember her fear of lizards—especially when the cats proudly brought their “gifts” inside. Oh, how we wish smartphones existed then to capture her screams and jumps! We smile when we remember how she planned family events with precision—organized, punctual, and running the show “like a well-oiled machine.” And we cry because we will miss that presence so deeply.
Today, we honor a woman who lived with purpose, loved without hesitation, and served without expectation. Sandra leaves behind a legacy of compassion, courage, and faith. She leaves behind people whose lives she shaped, strengthened, and uplifted. And though she has left this earthly home, we hold on to God’s promise that those who believe shall one day be reunited.
Sandra, you have run your race well.
You have fought a good fight.
You have kept the faith.
May your soul find eternal peace in the arms of the Almighty.
May your memory continue to inspire us.
May your love remain alive in our hearts forever.
We love you, Sandra.
We thank God for you.
And we will miss you—until we meet again.
Amen.
