My mother, Sandrea Assam, made her earthly transition earlier this week into God's care. 'Mummy' to me and 'Nana' to her grand-daughter, Katelena, was recently moved to a higher level of care in Ft Lauderdale and died peacefully in hospice and hospital. She was a strong, fiercely independent and accomplished NYC high school teacher and Assistant Principal. A self-proclaimed diva, she had the most generous spirit and was the "Giver" of the family who we could count on for beautiful clothes, culturally-rich experiences as well as pragmatic advice as she would always tell-it-like-it-is. She had a wonderful operatic singing voice and was singing and humming right to her final earth days.
Mummy/Nana, we love you and see you as God sees you....perfect, whole and now free with the Freedom of Spirit. We release you to God's loving care as you continue your soul's journey with 'Granny' to meet and accompany you on your way.
Friends and family are invited to attend visitation from 5:00 -7:00 on Friday April 30, 2021 at the Kraeer - Fairchild Funeral Home, 4061 North Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale, FL . Sandrea's funeral service will commence immediately upon the conclusion of visitation. Sandrea's service may be viewed through Sandrea's obituary page.
It can be a great comfort to a grieving person or family to hear that others thought highly of their loved one, too.
