

Burnett Willingham Donoho (Burnie), 84, of Cape Coral, FL, died on February 23, 2024, after battling Alzheimer’s. Burnie was born in Paducah, KY in 1939, to Glen and Estelle Willingham Donoho. He received a Bachelor of Arts from Vanderbilt University and a Master of Arts from the University of Kentucky. He served in the Army National Guard of Tennessee.
Burnie is survived by his children, Ann [Mark] Melhuish, Burnett Donoho Jr. (Bee), Harreld [Jessica] Donoho (Kirk); and his grandchildren, James Melhuish, Christian Melhuish, John Melhuish, Joshua Donoho and Noah Donoho. He is preceded in death by his second wife, Anne (d. 2015) and his first wife Jane (d. 2014).
Burnie had a successful career in retail, serving as President of Gimble’s Midwest, President and COO of Marshall Field’s, Vice Chairman of Macy’s East, and Vice Chairman and COO of The Broadway and Montgomery Ward.
Burnie can be remembered as an avid sportsman. He grew up hunting on the Ohio River and taught his sons as soon as they were old enough, establishing hunt clubs in Wisconsin and Illinois. When not in the duck blind you could find him on the golf course, listing to country music and cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals or Kentucky Wildcats basketball.
