Moses David Damon Martin was born on August 17, 1926 in Riverston, Essequibo, Georgetown, Guyana in South America to Roslyn Damond and William Augustus Martin. Moses spent most of his tender age going to school to learn carpentry at Essequibo technical institute. As a child growing up Moses would help his parents in the farm and harvest crops to sell where he enjoyed farming and raising all types of farm animals on the farm in Riverston, Guyana. As Moses grew older he worked as an apprentice building boats where he stayed for a number of years before migrated to the United States of America in 1966. In the United States Moses worked on a tobacco farm for a number of years and later in 1968 Moses started working at Montefiore Hospital as a carpenter. Over the years Moses was promoted to a supervisory position and later retired in 1988. Moses knew he wanted to reside to a warm place when he retired so he chose to relocate to Florida where he built a house in Alva, Ft Myers in 1990. Since Moses love for animals never failed, he used his free time to raise a number of animals and plant vegetables, whilst adding some finishing touches to the beautiful house he built. Moses was a very active person who was out going and loved dancing, socializing and sharing his rich Guyanese culture with people he met along the way.
