
Ed Goerke passed away peacefully in Fort Myers, Florida, on February 16, 2024, at the age of 93. He was born in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, on February 6, 1931. He graduated from Perth Amboy High School in 1948. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he served as an aircraft engine mechanic and attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. Upon discharge from the Marine Corps, he enrolled at Seton Hall University in South Orange, New Jersey, and graduated with a degree in business administration. After graduation, he reenlisted in the United States Marine Corps, completed Officer Candidate School, and was enrolled in the United States Navy Flight School Training at NAS Pensacola and NAS Whiting.
After serving in the Marine Corps, he reenrolled at Seton Hall University and earned an MBA. He had a successful career in labor relations, retiring from Sea Land Corporation as the Vice President of Labor Relations.
He leaves behind his wife, Dorothy Goerke, of Fort Myers, FL; his son, Jeff Goerke, and daughter-in-law, Julie Goerke, of Madison, MS; his daughter, Pam Goerke, and son-in-law, Pat Murphy, of Wayne, New Jersey; and his grandson, Jeffrey K. Goerke, of Madison, MS.
