James Alton Dumas

In Warwick, Georgia. He attended Elementary school in Altamonte Spring Fl, New Hope Middle School in Georgia and High school in Alva Fl. James was a well known heavy equipment operator. He was employed with Florida Rock Industry which is now Vulcan Materials company. His job title was a dragline operator for over 20 plus years before retirement. James enjoyed tinkering with things such as cars, motors, motorcycles. He also enjoyed bowling, basketball, fishing and best of all teaching the younger generation adult life skills. On Friday August 1st, 2025 James passed away at his home with family and friends. James was preceded in death by his parents John and Mary Lee Dumas-Simmons, Step-father Bunch Simmons. Those left behind to cherish his memories include his Wife Gloria Dumas, Daughter Stephanie Dumas(Earth), Son James Dumas Jr. (Tanoka), Son Marcus Dumas(Tammy), Son Bobby Hodges(Mariah deceased) Siblings Andrew Dumas, Mattie Douglas (Willie deceased), Connie Gaines(Eldridge deceased), (John Dumas deceased) Teresa, (Sharon Simmons deceased), Lynette Price (Arthur), Sandra Dumas, (Brian Dumas deceased) Brenda, Jimmy Blaine,(Kirk Blaine deceased) Gerald Blaine, (Diane Maddox deceased), (Earnest Terrell deceased) 7 Brother-in-laws & 4 Sister-in-laws Mozell Russ, Margaret Thomas (Haywood),Alfred Russ deceased), Donald Russ (April), (Glendell Russ deceased) (Gandhi), Monzell Russ, Carolyn Francis(Isome deceased) Grandchildren- Je-Stephany Moore, Shapual Moore, Lauren Dumas, Kiery Reeves, Tiara Carr (Louis), Dorsett Reynolds, Dorcell Reynolds, (Miracle Hodges deceased)

A funeral service will occur Saturday, August 16, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 12777 State Road 82, Fort Myers, FL 33913. A graveside service will occur Saturday, August 16, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM, 12777 State Road 82, Fort Myers, FL 33913.
