

Kenneth Earl Bond, 94, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on April 24, 2021. he was a devoted husband, a loving father, a proud grandfather, and a "great" great grandfather. He was born on August 27, 1926, the son of Arlington Earl and Alma Madeline Bonnett Mick Bond, in Morgantown West Virginia. He was a World War II Veteran and a retired firefighter, rising to the rank of captain with the Morgantown Fire Department. He was an avid sports fan and coached Little League baseball for many years.
Upon retirement in 1976, Kenneth and his wife, Violet, moved to Lehigh Acres. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Lehigh, where he served as deacon, sang in the choir, worked with Senior Adult Ministries, and served on many church committees.
Kenneth enjoyed gospel music, working crossword puzzles, and watching his Mountaineers play. He was a volunteer at the Senior Friendship Center where his wife Violet was a client, and he was named Lee County Volunteer of the Year in 2001.
Kenneth was predeceased by his parents, two brothers, a sister, and his first wife. He is survived by his wife, Norma Hardin Bond, a daughter, Judith (Andy) Morris, a son, Robert (Patti) Bond, a stepson, Dr. William (Diane) Hardin, and two stepdaughters, Rhonda DeLisle and Janet (Paul) Munns, ten grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 27, 2021. Friends and family my pay their respects from 11:00 until the service beings at noon. However, we respectfully request that you wear masks to protect those who have not been vaccinated. Your understanding is greatly appreciated.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his name to Hope Hospice, or to the FBC Building fund. Cremation services will be provided by Hodges Funeral Home at Lee Memorial Park. The family wants to express their thanks to the caring staff at Hope Hospice.
